About GameForge

Making Retro Game Development Accessible to Everyone

Our Mission

GameForge is a family of visual scripting IDEs that make game development accessible to creators who can't or don't want to write code. By providing drag-and-drop node-based workflows that generate native code for retro platforms, we're opening up game development to a wider audience while preserving the authentic retro gaming experience.

The GameForge Family

Each GameForge edition is tailored to its specific platform:

  • GameForge - C64: Visual scripting for the Commodore 64 using Oscar64 C/C++
  • GameForge - Amiga: Visual scripting for the Amiga using Blitz Basic
  • GameForge - GameTank: Visual scripting for the open-source GameTank console using C SDK
  • GameForge - Next: Visual scripting for the ZX Spectrum Next using Boriel's ZX Basic
  • GameForge - Phaser: Visual scripting for modern web games using Phaser.js

Why Visual Scripting?

Not everyone can code, but everyone has ideas. Visual scripting removes the barrier of learning programming languages while still giving you the power to create games. By generating native code for each platform, GameForge ensures your games run efficiently and authentically on their target hardware.

Open Source

All GameForge editions are open source and MIT licensed. We believe in free, accessible tools for game development. The community is welcome to contribute, fork, and extend GameForge to suit their needs.

FutureVision Labs
